Mid-April: Shimek Trails Issues - Downed Trees

Watch out especially for trees down and in or over the trail from "Potter's Rest" down to the Croton gravel road. Its so thorny/bushy beside the trail in this area that it is very difficult to get around the trees right now. Riders are advised to avoid this area for now. Marsha Achenbach rode most of the trails this past week (before the rain) and reported this and several other dirt trails with trees across them, caused by a combination of forestry work during the winter and the usual winter losses to wind and ice. Forester John Byrd is aware of the issues and will work with FOS and DNR staff to clear trails on or before the next FOS workday on May 12.

Plan now to come help us clear this up on May 12th--see the Activities page for details.
